80’s…

I

t’s final: I’m in a “80’s mood”…
From the very moment I was back home, I’v been playing non-stop music, featuring:

“The Favorites” (in pseudo-alphabetical order, not preference):
Adrian Belew, Bauhaus, Bizzarros, Blaine L. Reininger, Brand-X, Brian Eno, Chrome, Cocteau Twins, David Byrne, David Sylvian, Dead Can Dance, Dead Kennedys, DEVO, Dif Juz, DNA, Fra Lippo Lippi, Japan, John Foxx, Joy Division, Killing Joke, Laurie Anderson, Lora Logic, Ludus, Martha & The Muffins, Material, Maximum Joy, Normil Hawaiians, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Pere Ubu, Polyrock, Rip Rig + Panic, Scritti Politti, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Soft Verdict, Spizzenergi, Steven Brown, Talking Heads, Television, The Clash, The Del-Byzanteens, The Durutti Column, The Feelies, The Germs, The Golden Palominos, The Lounge Lizards, The Monochrome Set, The Pop Group, The Raincoats, The Soft Boys, This Heat, This Mortal Coil, Tuxedomoon, Ultravox!, Units, Urban Verbs, Vic Godard & The Subway Sect, XTC, Young Marble Giants.

Enjoy the thrill of the 80’s with the following tracks:

And every now and then, when the acoustic overload threatens the integrity of my auditive sanity, there it goes something called:

“The Easy Stuff” (once again: in pseudo-alphabetical order, not preference):
A Flock of Seagulls, Art of Noise, Barbara Gaskin & Dave Stewart, Ben Watt, Blondie, David Bowie (but exclusively his 80’s production!), Defunkt, Echo & The Bunnymen, Eurythmics, Everything But The Girl, Gruppo Sportivo, Peter Gordon, Prefab Sprout, Romeo Void, Simple Minds, Spandau Ballet, Suede, The B-52’s, The Human League, The Police, The Smiths.

And here again: enjoy some good vibes

And not to forget: all the TV series and movies featuring plenty of jackets with shoulder-pads, hair winged and teased with cans of liberally sprayed fixative, dark or shiny suits with narrow retro-ties (fortunately, all my photos in such attires are behind the doors of a Batman cave-like safe and will never see the digital light) and oh wonder!… The first computer-generated special effects.

“All-times favorite”:
“20 Minutes into the Future” where Max Headroom sees the light (All bow for him, because he is ‘root’…”).

Knowing myself, I’ll stay in this mood for a couple of weeks and then will be back to my normal self (“normal” being the only understatement so far).

Actually, I do love the 80’s.
Many have called them “The lost decennium”, but those are people without vision.
Most of what we have now in the 21st Century originated at some point or other in the 80’s (cell phones, internet as we know it, computer graphics, the Iron Curtain being torn apart)… just think about it.

They have been so misunderstood and underestimated by most, that National Geographic deemed it necessary to dedicated a whole series to them (thank God and all minor deities): ‘The 80’s. The decade that made us’.

Unfortunately, the series is not to be found anymore on the NatGeo’s website.
